Unusual Spiderman glass

Unusual Spiderman glass

This very unusual Spiderman glass was recently sold on Ebay.
We were contacted by the club member who won this glass. He has let us know that it is definitely a prototype for an American release, and is on the same round-bottom glass the 1978 DC Comics set was released on.

NY Giants glass

NY Giants glass

A hard to find NY Giants Houze Art see through Football glass showed up on Ebay with a vague description. The buyer was very happy to get this glass as it completed his set – a large football glass set and hard to complete.
Houze Art made many different kinds of see through glasses and lots of other glasses and glassware.

The Wackiest ebay find of the year…

January 27th, 2010

Here’s our last attempt at catching up before staying current. One lucky club member scored these gems off of ebay a few months ago for a song. For those of you who didn’t see them on the new club FlickR site, they are the ultra rare Wacky Packages glasses released by Topps during the 1970’s. How rare are they? Even Wacky Packages collectors had never seen one of them before, and one expert estimated maybe 12-14 WP glasses total are known to exist among that collecting community.

Rare Green Hornet Glass

Lenore Chase Green Hornet Glass

Some very nice glasses have shown up on ebay during the past few months, and we’re going to try to play catch up. The first noteworthy auction was for the exceptionally tough Lenore Chase glass featuring the character from the 1930’s Green Hornet radio show. This gem went for over $400. Long-time glass collectors will remember when it was thought there were only one or two of these in existence. Even Green Hornet collectors will tell you that there are probably only a handful known to exist.

Wally Walrus prototypeA bunch of us know about the Chilly Willy Walter Lantz double character that showed up on ebay, but this Wally Walrus prototype on a Brockway glass went unnoticed by most collectors. It sold for the bargain price of $257. A steal. Congrats to the high-bidder.
